Where a blank EDGE Field EDD is provided with locations codes present only, it is necessary for the user to create both a Task Code and Samples Codes for the samples to be collected. The Task Code creation procedure is described below and the Sample Code Creating New Samples and Sample Codes. The latter section also provides instructions on completing the waste sample form.
The blank EDD contains no entries in the Task pane (top left) and onlt a list of site specific location codes in the Location pane (bottom left). The screen appears as follows:

To create a Task Code, select Add in the Task pane to display the Add Task creation window:

The only fields to be populated are:
Task Code: This should use the schema [Facility_Code]_[DOC]_[Date dd/mm/yy]
Task description: Use words as shown in the example below
Task Type: Select Surveillance from the drop down menu

Once complete click on the Add Task button and the new Task code will appear in the Task pane.
