The GA2000 and plus series of machines will no longer be supported after late 2014 and new instruments in the GA5000 series are being deployed in their place. In most respects the importation of the gas data from the GA5000 machines is exactly the same as for the GA2000 series, indeed the Landtec GA2000 file import device is still required to be used in EDGE.

The imported GA5000 files are in the same format as the GA2000 in all but one respect, and that relates to the use and gas flow. The GA2000 series require the connection of Flow Pods to measure gas flow but in the GA5000 machines the gas flow measuring system is incorporated into the gas machine. The choice as to whether a flow reading is to be taken, and if so in what mode is made through selection from a menu on the machine.

The following section describes the procedures required to be followed by CEMEX for flow measurements on their sites. Unless instructed otherwise these procedures are to be used by all technicians required to take gas flow readings from monitoring or abstraction boreholes or gas vents at ALL CEMEX sites.
