Field Pens

The current standard protocol to be used by Enitial for CEMEX is to calibrate all pH, EC and Field Pens once a week.

NOTE:  The best time is at the beginning of the first working day of the week, usually a Monday morning.  If this changes you will be notified.  However for some sensitive sites e.g. Eversley you will be required to calibrate your field pen on every visit.

To create a calibration record:

1)Select the Equipment Calibration tab

2)Select the Field Pen tab at the top of the pane

3)Select the Add icon.  This creates a form for the entry

CEMEXE~1_img14

4)Select the Equipment Code for the Field Pen being calibrated

5)The date and time are set for the time the record was created so open the record when the task is in hand

6)Select your name from the drop down list

7)Select a Task Code from the drop down list.  Use the first task in which the instrument will be used, e.g. one with WG in its name

8)For each sachet used for the calibration and for each parameter (only complete an entry for sachets actually used – you do not need to enter a record for all sachets, only those used and if appropriate) enter:

a.Expiration Date of the sachet in the form dd/MM/yyyy

b.Temperature recorded by the instrument for the calibration liquid in the sachet

c.Initial reading is the value measured by the instrument when first placed in the liquid

d.Calibrated to is the reading shown after the calibration is completed

9)If there is any observation to be made about the calibration that could be of use to someone interpreting results from the instrument please add them to the Remarks box at the bottom of the pane.

If another calibration round for the Field Pen has to be done on that day simply select the Add icon again and a new form with the current date and time will appear.
